GLOCAL Program

Fundación CIMAS is part of the GloCal Health Fellowship at the University of California Global Health Institute.

Supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Fogarty International Center (FIC), the fellowship offers scholarships for researchers from around the world to advance their understanding of diseases and health challenges in developing countries, guided by mentorship from faculty at UCSF, UCLA, UC San Diego, and UC Davis.

The programs Advanced Spanish: Summer Quarter and Faculty-Led Programs from Washington these initiatives were distinguished educational programs that combined academic learning with cultural immersion and experience exchange.

The Advanced Spanish Program,the summer program provided students with the opportunity to enhance their Spanish language skills in real-world contexts. Through interaction with local communities, cultural practices, and traditions, the program fostered a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, enriching both language proficiency and participants’ intercultural awareness.

On the other hand, the Faculty-Led Programs from Washington the programs were designed in response to the academic interests and motivations of students and faculty from the participating universities. They combined regular coursework with field experiences, covering topics such as sustainability, global health, and cultural diversity. Fundación Cimas provided the necessary academic and logistical support to ensure the success of each program, enabling each group to develop unique projects tailored to their specific goals.

Although these programs are no longer offered, their impact continues to resonate among participants, fostering a global perspective, intercultural skills, and a commitment to addressing contemporary world challenges.
