COMMUNITY

Knowledge to Transform

Fundación Cimas del Ecuador seeks to connect its academic and research programs with the realities of marginalized communities, both urban and rural, through participatory action research in environmental, social, cultural, and health areas. This work is carried out from an intercultural, gender, and generational perspective, supporting participatory processes to build alternatives for local development. Additionally, it focuses on sharing the results of these processes, organizing scientific events, and promoting public dissemination.

By engaging in community processes, CIMAS facilitates the development of participatory planning-based local development alternatives, identifying needs and intervention priorities from diverse worldviews. This approach uses up-to-date community information to monitor, evaluate, and report on changes at the community level.

Since 2000, Fundación Cimas has supported participatory processes in Pedro Moncayo Canton, contributing to the consolidation of the Cantonal Health Council and providing technical assistance in participatory planning for Rural Decentralized Autonomous Governments. It has also assisted in the participatory development and updating of Territorial Planning and Development Plans (PDOTs) for rural parishes in Pedro Moncayo Canton, both in 2015 and 2023.
