Community Local Information System

The\u00a0- Community Local Information System (SILC).<\/strong>Developed since 2002 by Fundaci\u00f3n Cimas del Ecuador, it is a georeferenced platform designed to integrate, analyze, and visualize information collected through participatory community censuses. This system combines advanced technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), orthophotos, and satellite imagery, with local participatory processes, aiming to identify needs, prioritize target groups, and inform policies to reduce inequities and improve public health. The SILC is regularly updated to respond to local needs and ongoing research.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2014, it received\u00a0<\/span>the First Prize in the eSAC Innovation Competition<\/strong>, an award granted by the eHealth and Equity in Latin America and the Caribbean Project (eSAC), jointly developed by IDRC, the University of Toronto, and PAHO. The initiative focuses on improving equity and well-being for marginalized populations.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0<\/strong>Data Updates:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The system incorporates updated censuses and records, such as the 2017 population and housing censuses conducted in various parishes, as well as mortality and hospital discharge databases up to 2020.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/strong>Project Support:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The SILC has supported local initiatives such as:<\/p>

  • Early Childhood Centers for Well-Being (CIBV)<\/li>
  • Daily Care Centers for Older Adults (CECUIDAM).<\/li>
  • ESPINA Project \u2013 on secondary pesticide exposure<\/li>
  • CINCA \u2013 Intercultural Center for Training and Agroecology<\/li>
  • Water Resources Mapping, among others<\/li><\/ul>

    Sistema de Informaci\u00f3n Local Comunitario (SILC) El\u00a0Sistema de Informaci\u00f3n Local Comunitario (SILC), desarrollado desde 2002 por la Fundaci\u00f3n Cimas del Ecuador, es una plataforma geo-referenciada dise\u00f1ada para integrar, analizar y visualizar informaci\u00f3n recolectada mediante censos comunitarios participativos. Este sistema combina tecnolog\u00edas avanzadas, como sistemas de informaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica (SIG), ortofotos e im\u00e1genes satelitales, con procesos locales participativos, con el objetivo de identificar necesidades, grupos prioritarios y formular pol\u00edticas para reducir inequidades y mejorar la salud colectiva. El SILC se actualiza regularmente para responder a necesidades locales e investigaciones. En 2014, recibi\u00f3 el\u00a0Primer Premio en el Concurso de Innovaci\u00f3n eSAC, un reconocimiento otorgado por el Proyecto eSalud P\u00fablica y Equidad en Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe (eSAC), desarrollado en conjunto por IDRC, la Universidad de Toronto y la OPS, enfocado en mejorar la equidad y el bienestar de poblaciones marginadas. Aplicaciones y Actualizaciones: \u00a0Actualizaci\u00f3n de datos:\u00a0El sistema incorpora censos y registros actualizados, como los censos de poblaci\u00f3n y vivienda realizados en 2017 en diversas parroquias y bases de datos de mortalidad y egresos hospitalarios hasta 2020. \u00a0Base para proyectos:\u00a0El SILC ha respaldado iniciativas locales como: Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir (CIBV). Centros de Cuidado Diario del Adulto Mayor (CECUIDAM). Proyecto ESPINA, sobre exposici\u00f3n secundaria a plaguicidas. CINCA, Centro Intercultural de Capacitaci\u00f3n y Agroecolog\u00eda. Mapeo de recursos h\u00eddricos, entre otros.
